Project Overview and Summary.
To construct and commission a high-pressure natural gas pipeline connecting the West Qurna 1 field with BGC’s central processing facilities. The project aims to increase gas capture from associated petroleum gas (APG) and reduce flaring.
Scope of Work:
Route survey and right-of-way clearance
Supply and installation of 18-inch high-pressure carbon steel pipeline (28 km length)
Construction of valve stations and pig launcher/receiver
Hot tapping and tie-in to existing infrastructure
NDT, hydrostatic testing, and commissioning
HSE management throughout the project lifecycle
Key HSE Activities
Daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings
H2S monitoring and gas detection training
Dust and noise suppression around ROW and welding areas
Firefighting drills (monthly)
Heat stress mitigation plan: shaded rest zones, electrolyte water, shift rotation
Regular calibration of gas detectors and safety gear
Wildlife protection policy (e.g., relocating snakes/lizards safely)
Engagement Activities
3 stakeholder consultation meetings before mobilization
Land access agreements signed with tribal leaders (compensation packages included)
Monthly community update sessions (Arabic presentations + Q&A)
Local labor hiring quota: 30% from surrounding villages
Grievance redress mechanism with hotline and village drop-boxes
Marshland protection workshops in coordination with local NGO
